UK Power Networks’ (UKPN) Advance Adaptive Analytics (AAA) Forecaster

UKPN, Britain’s largest power network, distributes power throughout London, the southeast of England, and the eastern part of England, covering more than 29,000 square kilometers. Most recently called EDF Energy Networks, the company was renamed after being acquired by the Cheung Kong Group in 2010. UKPN was named the Utility of the Year for 2016 and one of the 30 best big companies to work for in the UK in 2017 for the third successive year.

The AAA Forecaster is a comprehensive energy forecasting platform that offers functionality for load, solar, and wind forecasting. The forecasting for the UKPN project ranges from 1 day ahead to 5 days ahead at hourly intervals. The platform was developed for the UKPN KASM project and was designed to work with other Bigwood Systems (BSI) applications, in this case, the Real Time Distribution Monitoring System. The AAA platform is designed to integrate with BSI’s ADAPT platform as a standalone product, or as part of a more comprehensive solution.
